Updated Special Report: Meritage Homes home-buyer complaints from
Consumer Affairs
We are also in the process of adding a number of new pages at MontereyHomesSucks.com web site in the near future, including my personal
records showing the very extensive and time-consuming but patient efforts (all on my part) to try and settle
things by getting the long-ago promised $20,000 rebate/refund.
All our extensive and tine consuming work to end this dispute and buy the Meritage Home
we liked and wanted so much (and get our money back in the processs) went down the tube and was to no avail with
all phone calls and emails ignored by Meritage-Monterey. That includes several
emails and phone calls to the Meritage Homes & Monterey Homes CEO/President
"Steve Hilton" and to a Monterey-Meritage Homes Attorney "Austin Woffinden",
one of several Monterey or Meritage employees who said my earnest money would
be refunded upon my repurchase (with Austin Woffinden also saying it was a
policy of Monterey/Meritage Homes to do that).
Why would a large corporation like Meritage Homes
Corporation want so desperately to keep a customers hard-earned
money, and also not sell a home what with the real estate market
being so incredibly poor in Arizona (and nationwide), the worst market in
several decades? Why would Monterey/Meritage refuse to communicate and
ignore my many attempts at communications involving my extensive efforts to repurchase the home?
Why would they not want to give
a valid reason (actually no reason) for their refusal to resell the unit in
question and thereby rebate the lost funds as they earlier agreed to do?
In addition to just plain alleged extremely unprofessional ways to operate a NYSE
listed business, we also believe there's a possibilty of an ulterior motive
in that this behavior by Monterey/Meritage Homes Corp may also be
somehow related to the strong need of Monterey/Meritage for funds to keep the
business going and continue paying large salaries to some employees!
Please help us with this "mother of all battles" regarding a large NYSE stock exchange listed corporation Meritage Homes Corp and its Monterey Homes division by making a relatively small donation today! We have delayed filing our Superior Court lawsuit due to high costs involved and being somewhat short on funds. However, we are getting closer and closer to our goal of getting the needed capital to proceed with the lawsuit.
Unlike Monterey-Meritage Homes Corporation, we do not have the luxury of well-paid staff attorneys so this battle is more difficult for us. Therefore, a donation would be greatly appreciated. Please click-on the contribute button below to make a donation (any amount is good, large or small) to this new home builder legal battle. P.S. All donated funds are only used to fund legal costs and not-for-profit. Thank you.
Could Monterey/Meritage blatantly reneging on the long-ago promised repurchase
rebate/refund also possibly be related to their amazingly poor NYSE stock performance
during the past year and obvious need for funds? Are you now wondering how
Meritage Homes a.k.a. Monterey Homes is doing financially? They say a picture
is worth a thousand words, so look at the amazing stock market
decline during the past year or so of Meritage Homes stock! Do
you want to trust your hard-earned money to a new home builder
with lots of consumer complaints, alleged dishonesty, and such an
incredibly battered stock price? The Meritage stock price looks extremely low
and depressed on the Dow Jones® provided MarketWatch® NYSE stock market chart below!
As an interesting side-note it's quite amazing how Meritage Homes
(a.k.a. Monterey Homes) Chairman and CEO Steven J Hilton made
more than 8 Million dollars last year according to an article
by David Lee Smith written on Oct 29 2007 in The
Motley Fool! Isn't that astonishing? The performance of Meritage
and the Meritage stock market price begs the question of how it's
possible for Hilton to be worth that much money! How desperate is
Monterey Homes for money to allegedly cheat me and my family out of $20,000!
The devastation to Meritage Homes stock value is such an amazing
stock price decline (in a relatively short time) so financial market day-traders and MTH stock investors may
possibly be thinking some form of corporate bankruptcy is a possibility for any firm with such
a big drop of their New York Stock Exchange traded common stock
value! As an interesting side-note, the drop-off over the cliff which took place all through the year 2007
but big-time in Dec 07 strangely corresponds closely to the date Monterey Homes Sucks
first went online with the public negativity published. Is it just an odd coincidence?

A brief but concise summation of the recent facts of the case causing my extreme disappointment about Monterey home builders and the unprofessional way they have treated myself (and other people too based on complaints) can be read here at the most recent important
basis of my complaint web-page. Lots of additional details will be published in the near future so please visit this protest site again to read more information and details about this amazing case about a big and wealthy corporation thereby in-effect 'cheating' an average consumer and home buyer out of a substantial sum of money by refusing to resell a home and thereby avoiding the need to pay back by rebating our confiscated earnest money!
Another significant basis for our complaint which we are now in the process of working on with the Arizona Department of Real Estate and Better Business Bureau involves prospective buyers visiting the Monterey Sales Office thinking the development consists of townhomes as a result of Monterey's numerous signs and marketing saying they are townhomes when Sandalo in actuality appears to be a condominiums project based on the builders own written documentation. More details on this townhome vs condo issue are at the other significant basis of complaint page.
We are asking the home-buying public if you or someone you know

As you wait for feedback and more news from Monterey Homes Sucks, please visit the extensive litigation protest site TaubmanSucks.com which has involved extensive court action (but plaintiff has been unsuccessful in taking the domains away). Another interesting protest site example is HomeDepotSucks.com, or go to the very well known PayPalSucks.com. There is also a 'sucks' domain registered for a Monterey Homes competing builder EngleHomesSucks.com which web site looks to be under development the last time we checked it.
